DeepSeek's API changelog also states that, as of the April 2026 V4 release, the API supports both the OpenAI ChatCompletions interface shown above and an Anthropic Messages-style interface. That second option matters if your existing codebase is already built around Anthropic's SDK rather than OpenAI's: you are not locked into one wire format just because this chapter's examples use the OpenAI shape. Either way, the underlying model and the underlying face, Face 2, the hosted API, stay the same; only the request and response shape you code against changes.
